About the company:
 
The company is a start-up spin off that started in early 2020 with 2 founders.
It started with a bundle of health care companies that own in total 4.6 million unique medical records of individuals that have the Dutch nationality. This data is used for medical purposes and hospitals, doctors or other medical personnel use the data to help clients.

What is very unique about the company is that they’re building a data warehouse with the help of Snowflake, and therefore they’re the first Dutch company that uses public cloud providers to do their data warehousing and data analytics with.
 
Since the beginning they’ve grown their team with 14 people which makes the total team now 16 dedicated software & data engineers that have a mission to bring a unique product to the market that has the possibility to make a huge impact on the Dutch healthcare system and the way it organizes data.

The position:
 
We’re looking for engineers that are passionate about data and software engineering. Ideally we’re looking for someone with experience in programming languages like Python and/or Scala and you’re deeply enthusiastic about data warehousing, data streaming and data analytics.

As a data engineer working in the data streaming team, you’ll be working with a service bus of Kafka and an application that is built in Scala that inserts meta data on the data stream so that it can be used for data analytics and rapports purposes later on.
 
You’ll be working directly with a few senior engineers that thought about and build the foundation of the streams and applications. From them you’ll embark on an adventure to build the product further and the mission to conquer the Dutch market with this innovative solution.

Requirements: 
  • You’ve a Bachelor or Master degree in a Computer Science, Data analytics or IT related study;
  • You’ve at least 2 years of programming experience in Python, Scala or Java.
  • You’re self-reliant and autonomous. Autonomous means that you’re the one that starts asking questions if you don’t know something and that you know that you can’t know everything;
  • You’re familiar with data warehouse and data analytics principles, design patterns and models;
  • You’re familiar with OOP, design patterns, and other coding principles as it comes to software engineering;
  • You’ve experience with data streaming and/or service streams like Apache Kafka, Kafka connect or related tools/frameworks;
  • You’ve basic understanding of NumPy or Panda’s;
  • You’ve excellent communication skills in the English language both spoken as written;
  • Dutch is nice to have but not mandatory;
  • You’re available for 32 to 40 hours per week;
  • You’re located in the Netherlands, you can work remote but the software and data you work with cannot leave the borders of the Netherlands. Therefore you can work from anywhere within the Netherlands but coming to some social events on their location in Utrecht is beneficial for the team work;

Recruitment process:

  3. In case of doubt about technical expertise there will be a technical assessment;
  4. Second interview with the HR from the company itself to discuss your motivation, triggers and what you need as a person to be successful;
  5. Contract offer based on your performance of the interview rounds, skills, motivation and experience;
